Coliseum Medical Centers is a 310 bed facility in Macon, GA. Coliseum is offering a 24-hour emergency room with specialized pediatric care, inpatient and outpatient surgery options, rehabilitation programs, behavioral health and diagnostic services. In addition, CMC’s breadth of care options includes specialty facilities such as the Coliseum Heart Institute, an advanced cardiac center offering all services from non-invasive cardiology to open heart surgery, Coliseum Rehabilitation Center, Coliseum Robotics Institute, Coliseum Cancer Institute, and the Family Ties Birthing Center (which includes a level III neonatal nursery). Additionally, the Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health, located on the campus of Coliseum Medical Centers, provides treatment to adults with psychiatric and addiction issues. The services provided include inpatient and outpatient programs, as well as a specialty program for senior adults.


The Registered Nurse (RN) Case Manager is a central communicator with payer sources, physicians and access staff. He/she performs telephonic concurrent reviews with assigned payer sources. The RN Case Manager collaborates with Social Workers and Case Managers for discharge planning activities. This position is the central point for communication for discharge arrangements. The RN Case Manager also assists with the efficient operations of the department by answering phones, ordering supplies, typing/computer entry and retrieving/copying medical records

** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Collaborates with Physicians taking orders for Home health care and durable medical equipment

  1. Coordinates with and corresponds to appropriate agencies and third party payers regarding pre-admission screening, concurrent, outpatient and retrospective review process as it relates to federal and commercial insurance plans to maximize positive financial outcomes.

  2. Collaborates with Medical Director and/or multidisciplinary treatment team in planning the care of patients and families within the acute setting and along the healthcare continuum.

  3. Maintains liaison with hospital department managers and other individuals to ensure continuity of care and effective communication of plan of care.

  4. Provides continuity of care by using community resources and makes referrals that utilize these resources.

  5. Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement processes.

  6. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.

  7. Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.

  8. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

    1. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

    2. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

    3. Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.

    4. Other duties as assigned.


    • A Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing is required with a minimum of an Associates Degree

    • A BSN Graduate is preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    • An active and clear Registered Nurse license issued by the State of South Carolina is required

    • A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required

    • Certification in Case Management, preferred EXPERIENCE:

    • Two years nursing experience in acute care setting is required

    • Case Management experience is preferred ** SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

    • Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to communicate therapeutic interactions

    • Knowledge of body substance isolation

    • Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external customers’ needs

    • Basic computer skills

    • Proven ability to work well with others, at all levels within the organization and collaborates effectively

    • Day Shift - typically 5 - 8 hour shifts

    • Rotating weekend coverage is required
